Our Firm's History

    Richard Kerber founded the Firm in St. Cloud, Minnesota, as a sole proprietorship in 1964. The Firm became a partnership in 1985 when James Schlenner and Michael Wenner were admitted as partners. In September of 1986 a branch office was opened in Avon, Minnesota. In November of 1987 the Firm became Schlenner Wenner & Co., and moved into its present office at 37 North 28th Avenue, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Offices were added in Albany, Minnesota in November 1989 and in Little Falls, Minnesota in 1996. The Avon office was combined with the Albany office in January 1997. In January of 2005, the James and Gruber CPA Firm merged with Schlenner Wenner & Co., adding firm locations in Monticello and Maple Lake.

    The combined firm, a member of the RSM McGladrey Network, has a significant presence in central Minnesota. The firm focuses on servicing the accounting, tax and business consulting needs of thier business, individual, not-for-profit and governmental clients    

    Over the last 40 years, the Firm has grown from one owner and one assistant, to its present size of 6 partners, 30 professional staff and 17 support and administrative personnel. Our growth has been carefully planned and is expected to continue at a controlled rate in the future.
