Congratulations on your Retirement Gary!

Gary was born in Victoria and grew up in Chaska, Minnesota. Back then, Chaska was just a small country town but since has grown into a suburb of the Twin Cities. He graduated from Chaska High School and was drafted while attending the Minnesota School of Business but chose to join the Navy. He spent 3 years on an aircraft carrier, the USS Oriskany, during the Vietnam war. He did payroll work in the Navy and overpaid the Captain once. Gary said, he got a little nervous about it the situation but the Captain just laughed.

Gary started with Schlenner Wenner & Co May 8th, 1985 and worked out of our St Cloud and Albany offices working in payroll and helping with personal tax returns.

Gary’s wife, Joyce, is from Oklee, MN, and is a math teacher at Sartell Middle School. They have two sons. John is married, lives in Victoria and is a Computer Security Director at Donaldson Co. in Bloomington. Dan is engaged to be married this May, lives in Chaska and is an insurance underwriter for United Health Care in Edina.

Gary has a sister, Mary Jo who is a stay at home mom and a brother Gregg who retired as a teacher and coach at Chaska. His mother, Joyce, also resides in Chaska.

In the past Gary has served as treasurer for the St Cloud Hockey Association. He enjoyed it, but it turned out to be more than a part time job during tax season!
