Community Involvement

Schlenner Wenner & Co. believes in community. At the heart of our responsibility to this community is our focus on the accounting needs of individuals and small to mid-sized businesses. To meet these needs, we retain and recruit employees with diverse backgrounds and specialized skills who provide a broad base of services. But it doesn’t stop there.

Our clients and staff are important members of this community whose success is closely tied to our own. We treat our clients like partners and our employees like family, and nurture these relationships by fully investing in their success. We work to understand objectives, develop responses and solutions, and never compromise trust.

When the business day is done, the same compassionate perspective spills into our community interactions. By participating in civic, philanthropic, professional and educational organizations, the partners at Schlenner Wenner & Co. lead by example, serving others and setting the standard for employees to follow suit. This level of dedication is what distinguishes us as a dependable accounting Firm.

We strive to be a business that your company, our employees and this community are proud to be associated with and we welcome your business.

Schlenner Wenner & Co. believes strongly that in order for our Firm to be successful, the communities we live in must be successful. This is why Schlenner Wenner & Co. encourages each of its employees to give back to their own communities. Employees are allowed to record their volunteer time as time worked to insure all staff take the opportunity to donate their time.

Initiative Foundation Award
The Initiative Foundation exists for one purpose, to improve the quality of life in central Minnesota. At the core of their work is the belief that local people possess the talent, passion and ability to achieve a brighter future. Their programs and investments strive to give every person an opportunity to contribute to a shared vision and plan of action that strengthens community character and relationships.

Since 2000 the Initiative Awards have recognized the work and dedication of individuals, businesses and communities within the foundation's 14-county service area in central Minnesota. The event calls to attention everyday individuals while inspiring others to search themselves for their own outstanding community initiative.

Since the awards formation, Schlenner Wenner & Co. proudly sponsors the Outstanding Nonprofit Award, which honors an Initiative Foundation partner that has made a powerful difference in the region during the past year.  Nominees must be innovative and focus on community or social change in a collaborative way, with participation from the community.  The Award Winner must have achieved outstanding results from goals set at the beginning of their initiative.

First Aid & CPR

Recently the Firm had the St. Cloud American Red Cross come in and complete a CPR and First Aid Training Course with a few employees from each of our offices. Over the course of 5 ½ hours and two nights 11 employees successfully became CPR and First Aid certified. The training included lecture, demonstrations, hands on simulation and videos.

United Way Campaign

This year our theme for United Way was “Go the Extra Mile”. We ran a week long campaign to raise additional money for United Way. Contributions given towards our “Go the Extra Mile” events were tracked separately from employee donations. Our “Go the Extra Mile” campaign was the week of September 21 - 25. Each day we had events planned that employees could “donate” money to participate in. Events included jeans day, count the gum balls, chili feed, etc.

United Way’s Day of Caring was the finale of our “Go the Extra Mile” week on Friday, September 25. This event was to mobilize people in Central Minnesota to make a positive difference through volunteering. This year the Firm volunteered by assisting some of our non-for-profit clients with projects in the St. Cloud communities. Some of those projects included: helping the Boy’s & Girl’s Clubs of St. Cloud and St. Joseph make thank you cards, reading to children at various child care locations and cleaning up storage areas. We had a lot of fun volunteering throughout the community and work hard to find ways to give back.

We also kicked off our 2010 United Way employee pledge drive. For the past several years we have had 100% participation in donations from our St. Cloud office and this year we were able to receive 100% participation from each office location!

Spreading Holiday Cheer
This Holiday Season Schlenner Wenner & Co. is helping out the community by working with two different organizations to spread holiday cheer; Anna Marie’s Alliance and the Salvation Army. Our work with Anne Marie’s Alliance involves us adopting the women and their children by donating items they have requested on their wish lists. We are also working with the Salvation Army by hosting a food drive this holiday season.
