Community Involvement

Schlenner Wenner & Co. believes in community. At the heart of our responsibility to this community is our focus on the accounting needs of individuals and small to mid-sized businesses. To meet these needs, we retain and recruit employees with diverse backgrounds and specialized skills who provide a broad base of services. But it doesn’t stop there.

Our clients and staff are important members of this community whose success is closely tied to our own. We treat our clients like partners and our employees like family, and nurture these relationships by fully investing in their success. We work to understand objectives, develop responses and solutions, and never compromise trust.

When the business day is done, the same compassionate perspective spills into our community interactions. By participating in civic, philanthropic, professional and educational organizations, the partners at Schlenner Wenner & Co. lead by example, serving others and setting the standard for employees to follow suit. This level of dedication is what distinguishes us as a dependable accounting Firm.

We strive to be a business that your company, our employees and this community are proud to be associated with and we welcome your business.

Schlenner Wenner & Co. believes strongly that in order for our Firm to be successful, the communities we live in must be successful. This is why Schlenner Wenner & Co. encourages each of its employees to give back to their own communities. Employees are allowed to record their volunteer time as time worked to insure all staff take the opportunity to donate their time.

Initiative Foundation Award
The Initiative Foundation exists for one purpose, to improve the quality of life in central Minnesota. At the core of their work is the belief that local people possess the talent, passion and ability to achieve a brighter future. Their programs and investments strive to give every person an opportunity to contribute to a shared vision and plan of action that strengthens community character and relationships.

Since 2000 the Initiative Awards have recognized the work and dedication of individuals, businesses and communities within the foundation's 14-county service area in central Minnesota. The event calls to attention everyday individuals while inspiring others to search themselves for their own outstanding community initiative.

Since the awards formation, Schlenner Wenner & Co. proudly sponsors the Outstanding Nonprofit Award, which honors an Initiative Foundation partner that has made a powerful difference in the region during the past year.  However, in 2011 we sponsored the Outstanding Enterprise Award. Nominees must be innovative and focus on community or social change in a collaborative way, with participation from the community.  The Award Winner must have achieved outstanding results from goals set at the beginning of their initiative.

Once again Schlenner Wenner & Co. held their annual United Way Campaign with activities spread throughout the week to help raise additional money for the United Way. All monies raised through our in-house activities were calculated separately from the United Way Pledge Forms.

We also had employees from our St. Cloud and Little Falls offices participate in various volunteer opportunities throughout the community on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30 as a part of the United Way Week of Action. Those employees were Robbin Keehr, Elicia Dockendorf, Molly & Caleb Thompson, Ryan Finberg, Tirzah Van Sloten, and Kelly Schustak.

Spreading Holiday Cheer - December 2011
This holiday season Schlenner Wenner & Co. proudly participated in Adopt-a-Family Programs and holiday giving. Two families were adopted through Catholic Charities Share the Spirit program and one family was adopted through Rivers of Hope in Monticello. The staff also participated in gather wish list items for those in need at Anna Marie’s Alliance. Staff members generously gave gifts and food certificates to help make the holidays a little brighter for the families in need!

Smoosh Race 2011
The Monticello Frostbite Challenge was held in conjunction with the 1st Annual NAIFC Qualifying Ice Fishing Tournament on Jan. 21 – 23 in Monticello. Several events were held throughout the 3 days. Schlenner Wenner & Co. entered a team in the Smoosh Race on Saturday, January 22. Team members were Cory, Dan, Mark & Bill. Our team took 1st place out of the 4 teams entered. Smoosh racing for those of you who don’t know is where teams of four attach their shoes to two 2x4x8’s and race 25 yards down and back. Racers attach their feet/shoes in anyway they like (the Schlenner Wenner & Co. team chose to screw down their shoes to the boards), but the bottom of the 2x4x8’s must be natural wood.
