Audit Accountant

Schlenner Wenner & Co. is a progressive, growth-oriented central Minnesota CPA firm looking for a like-minded individual to join its audit team. An Audit Accountant is an entry-level to three year experienced person who works in a team environment with the audit department. The Staff Audit Accountant will be a fully integrated audit team member that works closely with audit clients and Firm personnel. They consistently strive to demonstrate integrity within a professional environment.


Job Title: Audit Accountant

Location: St. Cloud, MN

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Hours to be Worked: Approximately 45 hours per week; additional hours may be required throughout the year, including Saturdays as required by audit schedule (mostly January 1 – April 15). Must post a minimum of 2,330 hours which includes Paid Time Off and Holidays

Reports To: Audit & Accounting Partners and Managers

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Duties:

  • Work on assigned segments of audit or accounting engagements, in some instances assuming substantial responsibility (under supervision) for small accounting engagements involving assurance services, compiled, reviewed, and audited financial statements.

  • Stay up to date on Firm policies, procedures, and the AICPA and MNCPA society's rules, regulations and Code of Ethics.

  • Regularly read and be familiar with pronouncements from the AICPA and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

  • Completion of CPA exam or is eligible and plans to sit for and pass the CPA examination.

  • Monitor and communicate progress of engagements in relation to budgets and due dates.

  • Assist the Firm with any requests that are not covered above in a confidential manner.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, communications, well-developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to manage computer software tools.

Education:

  • BA/BS Accounting Degree with 0-3 years of experience in public accounting or financial services is preferred.

  • Working to obtain CPA license or have passed CPA exam.

Technology:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Pfx Engagement, Caseware, and IDEA, preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible work environment, generally during the Firm’s office hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., including Saturdays as required by audit schedule (mostly January 1 – April 15).

  • Ability to travel to client sites and events.

  • Works in a typical office setting.
